RRSC Frequently Asked Questions We have tried to answer some of the most common questions here. If you have further questions about the RRSC program, please contact any Board member.
When is practice?
Practice times and locations are at the sole discretion of the coach. This information will not be set until after the teams are formed and coaches have been assigned.
Can I switch teams if the practice times don’t work out with my schedule?
Although we realize many people have very hectic schedules, it would be impossible to assign everyone to a team that fits ideally into each family schedule. Allowing players to move from one team to another could quickly cause a domino effect and would throw the team rosters and scheduling into chaos. Rio Rancho Soccer Club and the Northwest Rio Grande Soccer League strictly regulate transfers. The reasons permitting and the procedure for switching teams can be found in the NWRGSL General Procedures and Rules section 12. No exceptions are made.
When does practice start?
Practice is allowed to start 2 weeks before the first game of the season.
When and where are the games?
When you register, you are signing up for 2 8-week sessions. Usually the Fall season begins in September and the Spring season starts in March. All games are played on Saturdays. We play teams that are registered within the Northwest Rio Grande Soccer League. Sometimes we play on Rio Rancho fields and sometimes we play on their fields. The schedules are usually posted 2 to 3 weeks before the first game of the season.
What is the Northwest Rio Grande Soccer League and why do I keep hearing about them when I’m signing up with Rio Rancho Soccer Club?
Rio Rancho Soccer Club (RRSC) is a member of the Northwest Rio Grande Soccer League (NWRGSL), which is a member of the New Mexico Youth Soccer League (NMYSA), which is a member of United States Youth Soccer (USYS). A lot of membership for your dollar! Check out each website to learn how each group is working for the benefit of your player. There is a high level of commitment to excellence and a passion for teaching the game of soccer to our youth at each level.
Do you have co-ed teams?
RRSC assigns players to teams based on age and sex. Generally, there are all boy and all girl teams. Girls can be assigned to a boy team if requested by a parent, boys cannot be registered on teams classified as girls.
My player is really athletic, can he play with an older team?
Players are assigned to a team based on their birth date. Although some players are allowed to play on a team above their age group, this is strongly discouraged. Players tend to do better when grouped with peers of their own age. Players are never assigned to a team younger than their age bracket.
Do you have a competitive program?
RRSC is continually working to offer a diverse program to meet the needs of a wide range of abilities. We are in the process of expanding our competitive program. Some very exciting opportunities are here! If you are interested in learning more, please contact a board member.
