RRSC Board Meeting ~ February 19, 2008
Meeting Minutes
Called to order: 7:18 pm
Present: Bobbi Schroeder, John Moore, Matt Geisel, Tracy Burton, Ed Primaveri, Shane Huff, Lance Himmelberger, Bernadette Gabrys, Cathy Awe
President’s Report [Matt Geisel]:
- Motion to approve minutes by Bobbi and seconded by Tracy.
- Next NWRGSL meeting Mar 11
- We need to make sure we have MAXIMUM attendance at the next several league meetings. Important votes are happening in the next few meetings.
- Hot topic at the last meeting is how NWRGSL assigns and awards its 3 tournaments.
- Talked about 3v3 – need to put in place a committee now for the purpose of beginning now the planning for the summer program.
- Spring season – Schedule has been mailed out to all coaches.
- eTravel has changed how teams participate in a tournament.
- Communication with coaches is important. Encourage them to read their e-mail. As a club, we have tried to be very proactive in spreading information.
Vice President’s Report [Bobby Casey]: not present
Secretary’s Report [John Moore]:
Nothing to report
Registrar’s Report [Dawn Dal Porto]: not present
In Dawn’s absence, Bernadette shared the following:
- There are a lot of coaches who aren’t getting their transfer and release player papers
- We are getting kids placed on teams. There are a few kids who we are still trying to get on a team.
- Idea to have Chris Montoya (head referee) to have all the last minute player cards and coaches can pick them up at the Loma Colorado field Saturday AM.
- Need to explore Bernadette and Connie having more privileges on the registration system.
Treasurer’s Report [Bobbi Schroeder]:
- Taxes are done. All W-9’s have been issued and most have been distributed.
- Present balance $53,314.38 in the account.
- NWRG is reimbursing us for referee reimbursements
- Matt Geisel was awarded the responsible coaches award by US Soccer and a story was in the Rio Rancho Observer.
Head Referee’s Report [Chris Montoya]: not present
Director of Coaching’s Report [Shane Huff]:
- Enhancements to Age Group Training Nights – We have build up an impressive coaching staff. We will have one coach for every 2-3 teams. We also have 14 high school players (some state champs) who will help keep younger players engaged—to be role models for the kids.
- Want to work a pilot program for teams who can’t make the Age Group Training Nights.
- Youth Module 1 (U6/U8) right around the corner: Feb 23, 2008
- In the future, we hope to be able to host and teach this training within our club.
- E-license: April 26-27, 2008 (tentative)
Field Manager’s Report [Tracy Burton]:
- New equipment on order
- Corner flags
- Large first aid kit
- Fields were laid out last night by Jerry Martin and will be painted this next week.
- Talked about enticing people to come out and help setup
- For each time a parent shows up, they could get $5 off next years registration.
- We could use 4 volunteers in the morning and 4 volunteers in the afternoon.
- Haven’t yet gotten goals back from the Clash.
- Condition of fields at Loma Colorado is not good. There are large wood chips that were spread around the entire field. Need to talk to City.

Commissioner #2 – Public Relations/City Liaison: Position Vacant
Commissioner #3 – Communications [Jeda Farris]: not present
Commissioner #4 – Picture & Events Coordinator [Lance Himmelberger]:
- Working with Accolades for the trophies. Trying to keep the business in Rio Rancho.
- Need team rosters so we can put together our order.
Commissioner #5 – Website Coordinator [Edward Primaveri]:
- Working on integrating League-one with other website enhancements.
Commissioner #6 – Volunteer Coordinator [Cathy Awe]:

Commissioner #7 Report: Position Vacant
Old Business
- In-Kind improvement at Loma Colorado with City:
- If we keep the snack bar to 10x12, no water and no BBQ, we won’t need any building permits.
- Shooting for being built by late March.
- Offer the operation of the snack bar to RRSC teams.
- Need to set guidelines for what to stock and what to charge
- Emergency Action Plan – still working on it.
- Field first aid kit and banners
- Uniforms are coming along. We have upgraded to a nicer jersey for the same price.
- Mayor’s Ball / Rio Rancho Community Foundation Grant – We need someone to take the lead on writing the grant.
