Questions/Inquiries:
Please contact Junro Narita, RRSC Asstistant DOC at
asstdoc@rioranchosoccer.com
Fall 2008 Schedule:
- Mondays 6-7PM: U6/U7
- Wednesdays 6-715PM: U8, U9, U10
- Team Coaches to arrive 15 mins before start
- Will start 15 minutes earlier effective October 6th as the days shorten.
- Fridays: Skills (See skills section)
What Age Group Consolidated Training Nights Are:
- Age Consolidated Training is designed to run facilitated training sessions that will benefit both our volunteer coaches and players of RRSC.
- The DOC and the Staff Coaches will select topics and a lesson plan for the session.
- The DOC and Staff Coaches will then provide support to the volunteer coaches to ensure correct execution and deployment of the exercises.
- In some ways it is a “Teach the Teacher” approach as the volunteer coaches will also be learning which will impact the overall soccer experience of the children.
What it is NOT:
- It is NOT a skills session
- It is NOT a drop off the kids and leave
- It is NOT a “some one else coaches for me”
- It is NOT a kick-back environment for the team/volunteer coach
Expected Results & Benefits:
- DOC and Assistant DOC are more effective in reaching more kids
- Higher quality soccer experience for kids and coaches
- On-going Coaching Education for both our volunteer and staff coaches
- Builds both our coach and player pool; fortifies ties with Westside soccer players
- Engenders a greater club environment; builds cohesiveness
Expectations & Responsibilities of DOC’s and Staff Coaches:
- Conduct pre-session meeting (15 minutes before start time) with Team/Volunteer Coaches to discuss practice plan and key coaching points
- Debrief training session with Team/Volunteer Coaches
- Staff Coach will run session for one team per week with the objective to train each participating team two times over the course of the Fall and Spring seasons.
Expectations & Responsibilities of our Team/Volunteer Coaches:
- Arrive 15 minutes before session for pre-meeting with staff coach; obtain your training plan for the session and to set-up your designated training grid. We plan on giving you the same grid for the whole season.
- Participate in post practice debrief with Staff Coach and other Team Coaches
- When Staff Coach trains your team, participate and observe for learning purposes.
- When Staff Coach trains other teams, conduct training session based on practice plan that was/will be discussed in the pre-training session meeting.
- Commit to participating through out Fall and Spring; partial attendance will not receive their corresponding staff conducted training sessions.
- You shall bring your own coaching gear (i.e. balls, pennies, cones etc.).
- Ensure your kids bring their gear (water bottle, soccer ball) to teams’ designated training field.
- You, the Volunteer Coaches, will run much of the training session and manage/organize your team.
- Once kids arrive, let them have a ball, have fun by engaging them in a pre-practice “gathering activities” for your age group. Games like tag, everyone’s it, 2v2, juggling competitions.
- The more parental participation, the smoother the age consolidated nights will run. We will have 50-125 kids out there on any given night. So parents play a key role in making sure kids converge to their team’s area, help make sure jackets, water bottles do not get lost or left behind.
Overall, Rio Rancho Soccer Club is investing a lot of money to execute the age group consolidated training night. The Club is subsidizing it 100%. We will have a staff of 4-8 coaches on any given night. Your participation and attendance is critical to the program’s success. If your interest level changes, please approach us immediately so we are not under or overstaffing any given night. We all collectively need to be good stewards of the Club’s resources and funds. We are VERY excited about the age consolidated training nights. It is proving to be a resounding success for every involved.
